How do you design a weekend home in the States when the clients live full time in Hong Kong? Carefully, with many late night conference calls. LOL

The best part of designing is learning.  We worked with a talented group of Architects and a fantastic builder who taught us so much while in our collaborating phases.  The secret to designing a home is to provide your talent while observing others. In the end a masterpiece is created.  This home was published and has gained so much attention through Instagram.

The combined taste of the owners (he’s traditional, she’s transitional = a marriage) made this design unique and lots of fun.  In addition to furnishing, we got to play with a myriad of materials that made this design cohesive. Working with a talented team made this job different in a positive way.  We had such a great dynamic with everyone that was involved that it morphed into many more projects and long lasting relationships.

The point is don’t be a control freak with designing a space. Work with other trades.  They will teach you things that are out of your realm and create more opportunities in future designs.
